Today one of my cousins got married to his long time girlfriend up in the countryside of Deerfield Massachusetts -- at a campground. The wedding guests were invited to gather on Friday (yesterday) and stay until tomorrow, bring a tent or reserve one of the cabins available on the site. They did get dressed up for the wedding part, at least if things worked as planned, but then they were planning to get back into their grubbies and dance the night away. They will have a pig roast and plenty of camping sorts of things to do, and music. It looks like it's going to be good weather this weekend in that area. I can hardly wait to hear how it all turned out.
The interesting things is that on the other side of the continent, in Washington State's Cascade Mountains at a campground at 2270 feet in elevation near Lake Kachess my son and his wife and all the friends and relatives who could make it are gathered to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary! There will be a lot of relaxed people enjoying big food and the lake and the children who have arrived since the first celebration. For instance my little two and a half year old grandson and his baby sister (4 months) will be in the tent this time. Although the Washington group had a Pig Roast at the wedding, they will not this time. Although they had a brief sprinkling of rain during the reception four years ago they probably will not this time; it's supposed to be great weather there. I can hardly wait to hear how it all turned out.
I really like the "out of the box" way today's young adults make things happen. It's so refreshing that they are confident and comfortable with doing things a unique way, while obviously holding on to some of the old things as well. It's going to be chilly there tonight, but not really cold for well equipped campers.
Here we are settled down for the night -- enjoying the quiet of NO AIR CONDITIONING for a change, and liking the chirr of crickets outside. Fall is definitely moving in and I welcome it.
The cat asked to go to bed early. The Phillies won. Good stuff.
